Student Residence Permit Application Process

Obtaining a Tax Number for Foreigners:

The tax number is necessary for important payments and processes, such as the residence permit fee, opening a bank account, or registering your mobile phones.

1. Click the link and fill in your information https://dijital.gib.gov.tr/foreigners/kimlikNoBasvuru

2. The system will give you a Tax ID number once you submit the form. Please enable cookies and pop-ups on your browser since your Tax ID number will be given to you as an official letter in a PDF format. If you cannot obtain an online tax number, you must visit the nearest tax office in person.

Applying for Student Residence Permit: 

Warning! If you are abroad, you cannot apply for a residence permit.

Documents Required for Obtaining a Residence Permit:

1. Residence Permit Application Form

2. The Receipt of Residence Permit Card Payment

3. Health Insurance Policy

4. Copy of Passport ID page

5. Copy of Passport Last Entry Stamp Page of Turkey

6. If exists, Visa Page or e-Visa copy

7. 4 passport-sized photos. Only biometric photos are accepted: Full face, front view with a plain white background, taken within 6 months

8. Student Certificate. (You can obtain this form from the Student Affairs Department)

9. Document of Residence

  • If you are staying in a rental house on a rental agreement, a notarized copy of your rental agreement;

  • If you are staying in a student dormitory, e-signed/signed and sealed/stamped document showing that   you are staying in the dormitory;

  • If you are staying in a third person’s residence, the notarized undertaking of the host(if the host is married, also the notarized undertaking of the spouse).
